Hullo Will,

I would similar to collect more data regarding this issue. Please answer these questions for a meliorate understanding:

1) Is there any issue with the Internet Connection on the computer?

2) When exactly yous started facing this issue? What are the recent changes that you accept made to the computer prior to this issue?

I would suggest you lot to try the following methods and check if that resolves the issue.

Method 1: Run the Search and Indexing Troubleshooter

This troubleshooter is an automated Windows RT 8.ane inbuilt tool which finds and fixes the mutual issues with the Search and Indexing feature. Perform these steps to run this tool and check if that helps.

a) Press "Windows Logo" + "West" keys from the keyboard.

b) Blazon " Troubleshooting " in the search bar and printing "Enter".

c) In the " Troubleshooting " window, click on " View All " on the left pane.

d) Click on " Search and Indexing ".

e) Click on " Advanced " and then click on " Run equally Administrator ".

f) Click " Next " and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

You lot may cheque the troubleshooting written report and let's know the details. You may also try the suggestions given past the troubleshooter and check if that helps. If that doesn't help, and then try the next method.

Method 2: Install all the Pending Update via Windows Update

Follow these steps and install all the awaiting updates.

a) Press "Windows Logo" + "W" keys from the keyboard.

b) Type " Updates " in the search bar and click on the icon " Windows Update " from the search consequence.

c) On the " Windows Update " window, click on the link: " Check for updates " from the left hand side of the window to receive a fresh list of updates.

d) If the updates are bachelor, then install all the updates listed at that place.

If the effect persists, and then try the next method to delete the Search data folder.

Method 3: Delete the Search Data Folder.

Delight follow these steps:

a) Right-click on Taskbar and cull Chore Managing director from the bill of fare.

b) Locate the service " Microsoft Windows Search Index ", right-click on it and select End task

c) At present, navigate to the location " C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search ", bear witness the hidden files past selecting the option " Show hidden " on the View tab from the menu.

d) Delete the " Data " folder from that location.

e) Attempt searching once again and check if that helps.

Thanks for all the info, that'south something I'll do if I run into this trouble once more. Due to my impatience, in the time between my posting and your response, I only ran a System Refresh on the Surface. Certain, information technology was overkill, but it worked.

While I don't like the idea of using such a heavy-handed fix for little things, it worked.

Aforementioned problem.  None of these suggestions fixed.  Have non nevertheless tried organization refresh, which would apparently put me back to Windows eight.0.

Aforementioned trouble.  None of these suggestions fixed.  Have not yet tried organization refresh, which would apparently put me back to Windows viii.0.

system refresh would not take you dorsum to 8.0 unless:

- you have a surface pro, not RT.

- you have deleted your recovery partition and your recovery USB is however the 8.0 one

I take Sony Vaio all in one touchscreen with windows eight.1 and had the same problem with search characteristic returning the same mistake.   I noticed that the concluding windows update occurred 4/18/2014... just today 3/xx/2014.  some how my clock was a month alee....   the trouble started around daylight savings time, so maybe there is a bug...  Withal, my iv year erstwhile plays with computer then it is equally as probable that she changed it.  I corrected the time restarted the computer and search works fine now.

Did you attempt the suggestions given past the Community Fellow member " jp1jp2jp3 " on this thread to bank check the appointment and fourth dimension on the computer?

This seems to set up the issue for some users. So, if y'all haven't tried that withal, please check the engagement and time, set information technology correctly on the computer and check if that resolves the issue.

Hope this resolves the issue. Please get back to u.s.a. with the updates.

Ugh!!!!  I got the same error again and this fourth dimension my clock and system date were right.  I did some more poking effectually while keeping system time in mind and noticed that the Windows Time service was not running and was prepare disabled. I set the service to automatic, restarted the computer and the issue is resolved.... again.

This is ii times I've had this issue with two different resolutions related to system time.  MS I'm pretty certain this bug is connect with organisation time.
